As a retirement coach, I’m often asked, “What do you do?”
My answer, “I help people transition from work life to a fulfilling retirement by focusing on the non-financial aspects. Together, we find a new purpose, create an interesting daily structure, build a health and wellbeing strategy, identify social connections, use legacy to guide actions and much more.”
Essentially, I help clients design a meaningful and rewarding lifestyle for their post-career years, not just managing money. I work with individuals and couples before, during, or even after retirement to create action plans that align with personal values and goals, preventing feelings of boredom or loss of identity.
Another question, “When should I begin working with a retirement coach?”
Ideally people should begin working with a coach years before retiring. By proactively planning your vision of retirement you’re able to address potential roadblocks before crisis occurs. If you are around or between the ages of 45 to 65, it’s time to discover your future as a retired person.
For those who are retired, a retirement coach can be a benefit especially for those who find retirement isn’t what they expected, to regain direction and purpose.
