The Wealthy Barber is retiring. Here’s how he plans to spend his time
David is best known for his book, The Wealthy Barber; a common sense guide to successful financial planning. In this engaging tale set in hometown, Canada, the financial hero Roy, the wealthy barber, combines simple concepts, common sense, and an insight into human nature to shape the shaggy financial affairs of Dave, Sue, Tom and Cathy. And he does it not by hectoring them about budgeting but by giving them a set of practical, easy-to-implement guidelines.
David continued his legacy by writing subsequent books entitled, The Wealth Barber Returns.
Meeting David
I first met David when he was a member of the TV show, Dragon’s Den. At the time, 12 years ago, I was struggling with the question of whether I was wasting my time writing, speaking, and facilitating everything to do with holistic retirement planning. I reached out to David for his thoughts.
I remember David’s words of encouragement: “Rick you’re in the right space.” He added, “People need your information on how best to prepare for retirement. They will benefit greatly from your books, blogs, and other activities. Don’t stop!”
Since then, I’ve continued my research, written five books, two workbooks, hundreds of blogs which can be found on my website: www.whencaniretire.ca, I’ve facilitated workshops and conducted personal coaching sessions.
I treasure David’s support and caring. My work has resulted in readers, workshop participants and mentees thanking me for helping them create a well-rounded, holistic, happy, and stimulating retirement.
Thank you, David!
